Cairns Family Fun

Day 1

Enjoy a picnic or barbeque in the park at Cairns Esplanade and take a dip in the large saltwater lagoon. Kids will have plenty of fun at the playground, which boasts water jets, slides, climbing nets and even a flying fox.

Visit Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park in the day, where you can try your hand at boomerang and spear throwing, or learn to play the didgeridoo. You can also catch Tjapukai By Night, a fascinating dinner show, which includes an ancient corroboree around a campfire.

Day 2

Spend the day exploring the quaint village of Kuranda. Travel by Skyrail - the world's longest gondola cableway - up to Kuranda. Visit Rainforestation Nature Park, where you can get up close to wildlife and take an amphibious Army Duck tour.

You can also take a journey on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, which winds through hand-made tunnels, past spectacular waterfalls and across rugged mountain gorges.

Day 3

Get ready for an early morning pick-up as you take to the skies in a Hot Air Balloon. In the afternoon, try a half-day All Terrain Vehicle adventure ride or go horse riding.

If you are still raring to go at night, check out the Esplanade Night Markets, where you can pick up all sorts of souvenirs.

Day 4

Spend an unforgettable day out at the Great Barrier Reef and marvel at the corals, fish and marine life. You can get up close to the marine life even if you can’t swim.

Try the Seawalker, a bubble helmet that allows you to walk underwater. Hop onto a semi-submersible or glass-bottom boat, or take a scenic helicopter flight over the reef.
