Queensland offers a diverse range of dining experiences to suit any traveller’s needs, including a good number of Halal restaurants that cater to its Muslim visitors.
The following is just a selection of some of the Halal eateries in Queensland.
Brisbane
Located on Logan Road just a short drive from the city centre, Indonesian Tucker (Tel: 07 3219 3400) offers authentic Indonesian food.
For kebabs, check out Abra Kebab (Tel: 07 3012 8006), which has a branch in the heart of the city at Queen Street Mall.
Or try Taj Bengal (Tel: 07 3366 9044), a popular Indian Muslim restaurant in the Ashgrove suburb, about 10 minutes from the city centre.
There is also a Halal restaurant at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (www.koala.net), the world’s first and biggest koala sanctuary.
Gold Coast
Tandoori Place (www.tandooriplace.com) serves North Indian cuisine, specialising in tandoori dishes, and has five outlets on the Gold Coast.
It offers Halal as well as vegetarian meals.
The popular Golden Legends Malaysian Seafood Restaurant (Tel: 07 5594 6398) is a Halal certified restaurant offering traditional Malaysian food.
Another favourite is Bali Hut (www.balihuthalal.com.au), a Halal certified Indonesian restaurant, located at Twin Towns Resort.
The Halal certified House of Satay (Tel: 07 5594 1888), located in Carrara, offers Indonesian, Malaysian and Thai food.
Others
Visit the Portuguese fast food chain Nando’s (www.nandos.com.au), which is particularly popular for its flame-grilled chicken.
Many of its outlets have Halal certificates on display.
Sitar Indian Restaurant (www.sitar.com.au) has many outlets in Queensland and offers all kinds of curries, tandoori dishes, seafood, vegetarian dishes and more.
